Long time local family physician Odd Arvid Eide died 7/9/09 at the Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, MN.

 

Dr. Eide was born 9/20/20 in Fertile, MN to Odd and Clara Eide, one of 8 siblings. He was united in marriage to Annette Arneson 1945 in Morris, MN. Children born to their union include Barb, Steve, Jerry, Tom and James who died in infancy.

 

Dr. Eide entered pre-medicine at Concordia College, Moorhead, in 1940, and completed medical school at the University of Minnesota in 1946. He was involved in Army Specialized Training Program, completed his family practice internship in Salt Lake City, and began active duty as 1st Lieutenant in August 1947. He was stationed in Osaka General Hospital, Osaka Japan from 1947-49 when he began his practice in Hancock, MN where he practiced until 1975 when he joined the Morris clinic. He was active in Lions Club, Hancock School Board and served as Medical Director for the New Beginnings Chemical Dependency Treatment Center, Morris. He enjoyed reading, watching MN sports teams, classical music, playing the French horn, boating and playing tennis. He and Annette enjoyed their camping trips to Namakan Lake and wintering in South Padre Island, TX after he retired in 1986.

 

Dr. Eide’s commitment to excellence in medicine, and his compassion and dedication to his patients was a blessing and inspiration to many. Above all, he cherished family and the longstanding and meaningful relationships he was privileged to share with colleagues, patients and community.

 

He is survived by daughter: Barb Eide; sons: Steve (Fiona) Eide, Jerry (Barb) Eide and Tom (Susan) Eide; grandchildren: Ben (Adrian) Schwarz, Bjorn Eide, James Eide, Jessica Eide and Katie Eide; great-grandchild: Emerson Schwarz; brother: Alf (Verna) Eide; sister: Agnes Cranmer and dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Annette; son: James Eide; brothers: Arne, Andy and Roald and sisters: Mimi, Pippy and Anna.

 

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
