Odice McKinnon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Bay Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Dec. 24, 2025.
McKinnon - Odice McKinnon, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Jacksonville, Florida, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, family, and friends.

Odice was born on January 15, 1933, in Douglas, Georgia, to William and Eula Mae Gillespie McKinnon. A hardworking man throughout his life, he retired as a forklift operator at a truss plant. Outside of his career, Odice greatly enjoyed being a rattlesnake wrangler, a role he took pride in and often shared stories with family and friends.

A devoted family man, Odice had a special love for children and treasured every moment spent joking, playing, and laughing with them. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, he brought smiles wherever he went. Odice was also an early riser and was famously in bed before the sun set behind the hills, a routine fondly remembered by those who knew him best.

Odice was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eula Mae Gillespie McKinnon; sons, Richard McKinnon and Mark Twain McKinnon; and sisters, Shirley McKinnon, Maddie Lou Sims, Wilma McKinnon, and Virginia McKinnon; along with other beloved family members.

Odice is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Feagle McKinnon of 48 years; daughter, Mary Lynn McKinnon (Lewis Rueben Peterson); son, William "Bill" McKinnon (Bobby); granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Roy McKinnon of Arkansas; sisters, Doris Kimball and Mildred Courier; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

The tribute above was prepared by Odice's loving family.

A private family service will be held at Springs Church Westside in Jacksonville, Florida, at a later date. Odice will be remembered for his sense of humor, his familiar daily routines, and the love he shared so freely with everyone around him. Arrangements are under the care and direction of CEDAR BAY FUNERAL HOME, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32218. (904) 714-1110.
