Ok Son King, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in Columbia, Maryland. Ok (Sonny) was born on November 24, 1948 in Jeon Ju, South Korea to Bok Yeu and Pal Yeong Lee. She was one of 9 children.
Sonny married David Bruce King on July 9, 1979, and shared 42 happy years with him. They began their married life in South Korea, where her husband was stationed with the United State Army. During this time, their son Joshua Brian was born. As a loving wife, Sonny supported her husband during his numerous travel assignments over the course of his army career. She also was a proud and loving mother to their son Joshua. Together, Sonny and her husband David built a home full of faith and love.
Sonny held numerous jobs in the food service industry where she was commended frequently for her friendly spirit. But she was primarily a great homemaker. She loved cooking and gardening and creating a beautiful home. She loved to travel and loved walking outside in nature. She also loved her church and her church family. She never waived in her belief in God’s love, not even through the hard times in life.
Sonny was predeceased in death by her husband David, her son Joshua, her parents and three of her siblings. She is survived by her sisters, Ok Ju Lee and Sun Ok Lee; brothers, Sung Gun Lee, Sug Geon Lee and Kook Hwan Lee; brother-in-law, Glenn W. King; sister-in-law, Paula Nurthen; and many nieces and nephews.
