Ola Mae Bostic Blevins passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at Chatham Nursing and Rehab in Elkin, NC.
She was born in Surry County to William Ledbetter and Ida Mae Woodruff Bostic on August 31, 1932. She started working at Duke Power at the age of 16 while still in high school. She retired in 1987 at the age of 55 with 39 years of service. Ola married the love of her life, Delmas Blevins, at the age of 19. They enjoyed 54 years together until his death in 2005.
Ola was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Ola was a precious Christian woman who lived each day in close fellowship with her Lord and Savior. Her faith was steadfast, and her life was marked by devotion and prayer. She was a true prayer warrior, lifting up every need and every person with love and faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Delmas Blevins and her sister, Helen Brown. She is survived by her cousins, Scott and Karen Woodruff, Jamie Woodruff and Becky and Wade Lyon, all of Elkin, NC. Ava and Greg Riley and Jean Ashley all of Hamptonville, NC. Jeanne Dillahunt of Yakima, WA and June Khemlani of Kernersville, NC.
Ola is also survived by her caregiver and beloved friend Mahalia East who became her family. Mahalia's compassion and dedication were a great blessing in Ola's life. She cared for her with kindness, patience, and respect, offering both friendship and comfort throughout the years. The family will always be deeply grateful for the loving care and support Mahalia provided.
A graveside service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Dr. Matty Ponce-de-Leon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, Mountain Valley Hospice, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family would also like to thank the staff of Chatham Nursing and Rehab and Mountain Valley Hospice for their love and care.
