I am one of the countless students at Woodbridge Senior High School that he touched. I love American history to this day and am grateful for his contribution to that. I'll never forget his stories of serving under General Patton in World War II and how they used to shave using their bayonets.

Mrs. Gherke & Family,
I loved working with Mr. Gherke in "the good old days" at Woodbridge High School. He was such a special part of our faculty and helped many youngsters to graduate and set goals for themselves. It may seem rather trivial, but I shall be eternally grateful for that sweet man waiting at the door for me when they "turned us loose" on snow days and we all but trampled the students to get out before them. He would let me hang on his arm to get down that steep, slippery hill to our cars and see that I , a lost soul in the snow from Mississippi, got safely to my car. He was a sweetheart and I know you must miss him terribly already.
Sincerely,
Reba Branch(former counselor at WSHS)

Mrs. Gherke, Thanks for sharing Mr. Gherke with us at church ! We will miss his kindness and funny antics. After Dad died he said he missed their trips to the mountains for peaches and apples. Now they can both be together in Heaven..until we join them once again.
He will be very much missed and I want you to know that my Mom,Mrs. Virginia Neyhouse,Robert and I will miss you dearly....So until we meet again, HUGS AND KISSES forever..Love Louise Gallucci
