Olga Pontes Obituary
Olga (Mendonca) Pontes, 93, of New Bedford passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital peacefully with her family by her side. Born in South Dartmouth, she was the daughter of the late Frank Mendonca and the late Mary Louisa Mendonca and loving wife to her husband of 63 years, the late Jose Pontes.
Olga worked for many years as a stitcher at Deerfield Mfg, Riverside Mfg and States Nightwear. She enjoyed making puzzles and doing word searches. She could often be found watching her favorite TV shows, Wheel of Fortune and Chronicle though her favorite thing in life was being surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Pontes and Gloria Pontes; son, Joseph Pontes Jr.; grandchildren, Amanda Marie Pontes and Jason Joseph Pontes; siblings, Gilbert Mendonca, Frank Mendonca, Cecilia Andrews, Dolores Sivigne and several nieces and nephews. Olga is preceded in death by her sister, Nefa Pimental.
Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 25th from 5-8pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 26th at 10am at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd New Bedford. All are welcome to join us that morning at 9:30am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
