Olga Rivera Obituary
RIVERA
Olga C. Rivera, 89 years of age, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Diego, Texas on June 26, 1936, to her parents, Tomas and Maria Chapa. She was a 1956 graduate of Benavides High School and devoted her life to raising her children. Olga was an active member of St. Rosa De Lima Catholic Church and served as a Catholic Daughter. She was active with the senior citizens of the Benavides Civic Center and enjoyed watching game shows, and word search puzzles, and an avid Astros and Cowboys fan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who will be sadly missed by all her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Rivera Sr.; son-in-law, Fidel Cavazos Jr.; grandson, Carlos Rene Cavazos; three sisters, Emma Viera, Olivia Toeross, and Oralia Segura; three brothers, Tomas Chapa, Rodolfo Segura, and Placido Segura.
Olga is survived by her son, Oscar (Ellen Charles) Rivera of Benavides, Texas; daughter, Mary Lou (+Fidel Cavazos Jr.) Cavazos of Benavides, Texas; three grandchildren, Orlando Javier (Yvonne) Cavazos, Paul Anthony Rivera, and April Marie (Fernando) Nunez; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at St. Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Benavides, Texas. Internment will follow at Benavides Cemetery in Benavides, Texas.
