Olga Tirado, born on October 7, 1945, in Ponce, Puerto Rico gained her wings on October 30, 2025 in Miramar, Florida. She was the beloved daughter of Isabelino Colón and Providencia Torres.
Upon arriving in Brooklyn, New York in the 1950s, she attended Harry Van Arsdale High School (formerly known as Eli Whitney High School) where she quickly mastered the art of sewing. After graduating, she pursued her dreams of becoming a seamstress. In the 1960s, she met her husband Fransisco "Frankie" Tirado. Together they raised three children and her adopted niece.
She designed nearly every facet of her life––including her home and her family's apparel. From prom dresses and three-piece suits, to Halloween costumes all the way to drapes and bedding. Her passions also extended to music–from gospel to rap all the way to classical music. Although she was the middle of six children, she took the role of the family matriarch–touching several generations. Olga was incredibly strong, independent, and resilient yet never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
She is preceded in death by her husband Frankie Tirado and her son Robert Galarza. She is survived by her brother Isabelino Jr.; her children, David and his wife Claribel, Maria and her husband Leonardo, and Monalisa and her husband William; her grandchildren Erica, David Jr., Krystal, Matthew, Andrew, Bianca, Brianna, and Sasha; her great grandchildren Nazariah, Nadia, Davontae, Cataleya, Kai, and Zavion. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral service will be held 9:00 AM on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel. Visitation is from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Tuesday, November 4, 2025 with burial service shortly after.
** The livestream will start 5 minutes prior to the service on our Facebook page.**
