Olga Gaines (Herndon) Westbrook, 85, of St. Pauls, NC passed away on Monday September 23, 2024 at her home surrounded by her beloved family.
Olga was born August 6, 1941 in Robeson County NC to the late Luther and Viola Herndon. She is proceeded in death by her brothers Marvin, Bill, Dan, Vance, Earl, Joe and Worth and sisters Francis and Doris.
Olga was a devoted homemaker while educating, influencing and loving thousands of children as a Teacher's Aide for the St Pauls Elementary school. As well, she served as the First Lady of St Pauls with her husband the former Mayor "Buddy" Westbrook. Olga loved small town politics and enjoyed "politicking" for her husband, brother Bill Herndon, and nephew Lance Herndon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. She was a devoted member of the 2nd Baptist and 1st Baptist Churches for many years.
The family will receive friends at McNeill Legacy Funeral Home on Saturday September 28, 2024 at 11 am. Funeral service will immediately follow in the McNeil Legacy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls, NC.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marion Gordon (Buddy) Westbrook; sons Douglas Westbrook (wife Kippir) and Gregory Westbrook; grandchildren Kayla Westbrook and Justin Westbrook (Doug), Courtney Bradford and Caitlin Westbrook (Greg); her four great grandchildren Bexley, Amelia, Ryker and Troy; and her sister Sylvia Pait of Bladen County, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either First Baptist or Second Baptist Church of St. Pauls, NC.
