Olive Hanson

Olive DiAnn (Antonsen) Hanson, age 87, of Vergas, Minnesota, passed away of Friday, April 21, 2023, at Sanford Health Hospital-Broadway in Fargo, North Dakota.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Vergas Methodist Church, with a time of gathering an hour prior.
Olive was born on May 9, 1935, to Dewey and Florence (Swick) Antonsen, at the family home in Hobert Township, Frazee, Minnesota. She attended country school at Rose Lake and went on to graduate Frazee High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to Rodney Hanson on November 1, 1953, and the couple had five children. Rodney and Olive built their Rose Lake home in 1977, where she lived until it burned down in 2018. She then moved into Vergas Assisted Living.
Olive was dedicated to her family and to her faith. She was active her entire life at the Vergas Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a loving homemaker, a doting grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved gardening and time spent on the lake. Olive enjoyed golf, bowling and playing the piano. She loved to entertain friends and family but never wanted to be the center of attention.
She is survived by her sons: Robin (Jen), Marty (Nancy), and Jeffry (Terrie); a brother-in-law, Allen "Pete" Peterson, and a sister-in-law, Marion Antonsen; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Olive is preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Florence; her husband, Rodney; her infant son, Jeffrey; and a daughter, Jolyn Priem; sisters: Phyllis (Roger) Simon, Jill Peterson; and brother, Allen Antonsen.
