Olive J. Hartenstein

Olive J. Hartenstein, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 5, 2025. A lifetime resident of Canton, she was born on May 14, 1942, to Clarence and Eloise (McLaughlin) Rentz.

Olive was a proud and loving caretaker all throughout her life. Children were her life, whether they were her own, her grandchildren, or even other people’s children. Olive was a dedicated sports mom for her own children, and a craft-loving companion for her grandchildren. Olive delighted in shopping trips and collecting precious porcelain dolls, and she will be deeply missed by her family.

Olive is preceded in death by her parents; her children, Phyllis Beadnell and Kenneth Moreland; and her brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish Olive’s memory are her beloved husband of 60 years, William Hartenstein III; children, Joyce Brinkerhoff and Bill Hartenstein IV; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three siblings.

A celebration of Olive’s life will be held at a later date.
