Oliver Coon Obituary

Oliver Thomas Coon, 24, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024. The family will greet friends from 4:00 pm â€" 7:00 pm on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion. Oliver was born to Eric Coon and Kerrie Derby on January 21, 2000, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School. His hobbies included fishing and woodworking, notably exemplified by a remarkable table measuring 11 feet by 7 feet that he crafted for playing Dungeons and Dragons with his family and friends. He cherished moments spent with his family and took great pleasure in his role as a father. Survivors include his son, Colton JD Coon; Colton's mother, Maegan Slaymaker; parents, Eric (Candace) Coon; siblings, Kyle (Makayla) Coon, Lucas (Miranda) Coon, Parker Coon, Dylan Thomas, Gage (Delaney) Nebraska, Lexis Nebraska, Vinnie Nebraska; grandfather, Don Coon; and multiple extended family members. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Donna Coon, and life-long friend, Larry Berandt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be in the care of Eric Coon.
