In his infinite wisdom, God called to rest in his bosom Oliver Davis Evans, affectionately known as Dave.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver King Evans and Bessie Louise Evans; and brother Kenneth Evans.

Dave was born January 24, 1946. He was a graduate of Amherst County High School in the Class of 1964. He later received his Bachelor and Masters degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg. He also served in the United States Navy, assigned to the U.S. Independence Aircraft Carrier.

Dave is the father of two children Julie and Jeff Evans, brother R. Wayne Evans (Star) and sister Brenda Drinkard. Stepsons Stacey Hamlett, Joland Hamlett and Brandon Hamlett (Kathy).

Dave was married to Susan Hamlett Evans for 16 years as of October 11, 2024. He is also the proud father of "fur baby" Sasha whom he loved dearly. He is further survived by many cousins, in-laws and other relatives, too numerous to list

Dave has had numerous jobs where he was a master of all, as he was a very knowledgeable person. Dave never met a stranger and loved all. He loved the Lord and worshipped with his family and close friends at the Diamond Fill Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Owen and Elder Flora Cardwell. He loved his church and attended faithfully until his health declined.

He will be greatly missed by the community, family and friends.

The family will be having a celebration of life at Diamond Hill Baptist Church on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 3P.M with a visitation one hour prior.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
