Roger Evans Obituary

Norfolk – Roger Dale Evans, 76, on February 18, 2026, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on August 6, 1949. He loved Jesus with all his heart and loved his family. He would share the path to salvation with anyone he met so we all could know the love of the Lord and go to Heaven. He was always leaving bible tracks everywhere he went. When Roger said he was going to pray for you, he meant it! He was a simple man. He would give his shirt off his back and help you anyway he could.

Roger graduated Granby High School in 1968 where he then joined the United States Airforce and received a medical honorable discharge in 1969. He continued his career with the government at the Norfolk Naval Supply Center where he retired after 22 years. He worked for the City of Chesapeake Garage for 8 years followed by working for Freedom Ford for 11 years and then fully retired in 2016. He lived a full life for God's purpose. He is home in Heaven, reunited with his Mom, Dad, Sister, and Brother.

Roger loved reading his bible, watching worships services on television and listing to gospel music. He attended Azalea Baptist Church where he volunteered and helped wherever he could. His favorite television show was the Andy Griffith Show. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was working in the yard, sitting on the porch remembering the "good ole days" or just enjoying nature. In earlier years he loved working on the race car with his brother and attending drag races in Suffolk with his brother and sister. He also loved working on the Tobacco fields in NC and did volunteer work at the Norfolk Zoo.

He is survived by his sister Carolyn Buddenhagen; nieces, Stephanie Adcock (Elvis), Mackinna Gallagher (Danny) and Krystal Hancock Posey; many great-nieces and nephews; cousin Jean Lassiter; and many more cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Gurney Milton Eason, Sr. and Betty A. Eason, sister Debbie Eason Jorgensen, brother Gurney Milton Eason, Jr, and sister-in-law Vickie L. Eason.

A funeral and service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. Beginning with a viewing and gathering at 11:00 a.m. The celebration of life service will begin at 12:30 in the Chapel followed by a graveside service, with Military Honors, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23505.
