Oliver Victor Spicer of Lubbock went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born February 1, 1930 in Ashville, N.C. to Clarence and Grace Spicer. When Oliver was 9 months his family made a move to Tulia where they remained until he was 14, later moving to Lubbock. Oliver married Connie Lee Parker on August 24, 1963 in Junction, TX. Oliver worked for the Lubbock Avalanche Journal Art Craft, Trinity Church for 22 years in the sound and printing department until his retirement. He was a member of Church on the Rock where he served the church in many ways.
Oliver will truly be missed. He always enjoyed visiting with people and friends. Throughout his long life, Oliver made many friends. Oliver and his best friend Jerry Burke went trail riding in 2011. Happy Trails in Heaven, we love you!
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Connie; daughter, Ruth Thornley and husband Gordon; children with his first wife, Frances Corcorran: son, Richard Spicer and daughter, Tancy Eubanks and husband Randy; two grandsons, three granddaughters and three great granddaughters.
Oliver was preceded in death by his son, Victor Spicer on January 10, 2013; parents; one brother; and one sister.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Combest Family Funeral Homes with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Church on the Rock.
