Oliver was born on June 13, 1956, in Converse, Louisiana to Johnnie Lewis Springer and Eva Mae Drawhorne and passed away peacefully July 28, 2025, in Converse, Louisiana.
After finishing school, Oliver spent a 20-year career as the Sears Repairman and later in his life used his experience and knowledge to work on small engines, appliances, lawn mowers, four wheelers, and the list goes on and on, no matter how big or small. The definition of a repairperson is a skilled technician or tradesperson, a vital figure in modern society, processing the expertise to diagnose and fix a wide range of mechanical, electrical, or structural issues. This describes Big “O” perfectly. Beyond this, his love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control were like none other. Oliver was filled with the “fruits of the spirit.” Whether he knew you or not, he would always stop what he was doing and make time for you. He was an unsung hero who helped run the world more smoothly, one repair at a time.
Oliver was preceded in death by parents, Johnnie and Eva Springer; son, Jacob Bryan Springer; and brother, Roger Dale Springer.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Jacklyn Rascoe Springer; son, Isaac Allen Springer; daughters, Melissa Springer LeBlanc (John) and Katie Jo Freyer (Tuck); siblings, Dannie Ann O’Hara, Johnnie Lewis Springer, Jr., Alicia Williams (Gerald), Robert Springer (Madeline), Cleveland Springer (Lynelle), Kathy Watson (Bennie), Francis Brown (Homer), and Don Springer (Betty); grandchildren, Jackson “Jack” Allen Springer, Sophie Ann Springer, Grant Oliver LeBlanc, William Michael LeBlanc, and James Logan “Bo” Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honoring Oliver as pallbearers will be Isaac Springer, Clint Rascoe, Daniel Rascoe, Jeremy Springer, Caleb Springer, and Josh Springer.
