Olivia R. Avalos passed away on July 5, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on November 21, 1968, in Corpus Christi, she spent her life in the city she cherished, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.
Olivia was known for her vibrant spirit and keen intellect, often engaging in her favorite pastimes of crossword puzzles, general puzzles, and coloring, which brought her much joy and relaxation. Her true passion, however, lay in her family. She dedicated herself to her children, nurturing them with unwavering support and affection. Olivia's warm presence and nurturing nature will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her partner, Oscar Cruz, who shared many treasured moments with her. Olivia is also survived by her children, Angela Martinez (Richard), Mandy Garcia, and Walker Avalos, who will continue to carry her spirit forward in their lives. Additionally, she leaves behind her brothers, Ascension Avalos and Luz Avalos, Jr.; and grandchildren, Owen Martinez, Jacob Martinez, Zariah Love Martinez, Matthew Arron Castillo, Emmerie Alizae Castillo, Jaeden Alexander Castillo, Zailey Faith Martinez, and Aliyah Angel Castillo, who will remember her fondly.
Olivia is preceded in death by her parents, Angela R. and Luz Avalos, Sr., and her siblings, Orfalinda Avalos, Rosa Avalos, Daniel Avalos, Israel Avalos, Mary Irene Flores, and Maria Luisa Garcia, all of whom she cherished dearly.
Her love and devotion to her family and her passions will be remembered as a guiding light in their lives. Olivia's memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughs remembered, and the love that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
A Memorial Service honoring Olivia’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Solid Rock Worship Center, 3035 Ayers St., at 12:00 PM; with a Wake to follow. Services will conclude that afternoon.
