Ollie Mae was born in Madison, Alabama to the late Ollie Jackson, Sr., and late Hassie Small on August 6, 1938.
Ollie Mae departed this life at home with her family on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Ollie Mae earned her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 85 years old.
Through our mom and grandmother, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. Our mom/grandma was a strong, outspoken, and determined woman. Ollie Mae was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was always there when we needed her. Ollie Mae was loved very much and will truly be missed. She enjoyed traveling and being in the presence of her family and friends. She truly loved the lord and was a praying woman. She will always hold a place in our hearts.

Ollie Mae confessed a life in Christ at an early age and never wavered in her belief towards him. She joined St. Elizabeth CP Church in Madison, AL under the leadership of Reverend George Moore, Sr. Ollie Mae later transferred her membership to Blackburn Chapel CPCA under the leadership of the late Reverend McKinley Jones, now under the leadership of Reverend Tramaine Snodgrass. Ollie Mae served as a member of the Blackburn Chapel Number One Choir until her health started declining. Ollie Mae's love for the Lord continued throughout her sickness.
Ollie Mae was preceded in death by her husband --Milton Jefferson Rice; father --Ollie Jackson, Sr.; mother --Hassie Small; Aunt & bonus mother --Mattie Lou Bradley; stepmother --Juanita Jackson; sister --Jessie Louise Jackson; brother --Ollie Jackson, Jr.; sister --Ruth Smith; sister-in-law --Margaret Jackson; brother --Carl Allen Seay; cousins & close friends Emma Leslie & Oliver Jefferson, Jr; nephew --Chris Jackson; and bonus daughter --Suprenia Waddle.
She cared deeply for her family. Ollie Mae's daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her faith in God were the most important aspects of her life.
She leaves to cherish, her loving immediate family:
Ollie Mae's daughters - Barbara Ann (Isiah) Jackson and Betty Jean Jackson of Huntsville, AL; granddaughter--Wykena (Daryl) Jackson Davis, M.D. of Atlanta, GA; grandson --Derrance (Kiamesha) Tirrell Jackson of Athens, AL; bonus grandson-- Jaquise Dior Small of Birmingham, AL; two great granddaughters--Kamari Danyelle Jackson and Karyah Danae Jackson of Huntsville, AL; and two great grandsons --Arrington Tirrell Jackson and Uzziah JaTawn Jackson of Huntsville, AL. Uzziah was so special to her!!! Ollie Mae's bonus daughter was Emma Nell (Jimmy) Evans of Copperas Cove, TX.
She shared a special bond with her brother --Johnnie Lee (late Margaret) Jackson; sister –Mary Helen (Kenneth) Brown; sister-in-law --Betty Mae (late Samuel) Clinton; nephews –Kenneth Brown, Frederick (Nichole) Brown, Devarius (Nika) Jackson, Tawrence (Senait) Smith, Maress (Lakeshia) Smith, and Brian Jackson; nieces --Bobbie Sue Jackson, Thelma (Keith) Norris, Caroline (Oliver) Jackson Baker, Katrina (Patrick) Jackson Harris, Wykeisa (Timothy) Jackson Clark, MaShuna Norris, and Delaisha Norris; cousins -- Tometta (late Robert Earl) Rice, Shelby Jean (late Samuel) Crutcher, and Lena (Robert) Ayers.
Other Sisters: Mamie Jackson, Carolyn Smartt, Althea Jackson, Clara Seay, Annettia (Hasty) Muhammad, and Theresa (Joe) Jackson.
Other Brothers: Napoleon (Amy) Jackson, Calvin (Sharon) Jackson, Roy (Glenda) Seay, Richard (Linda) Fuller, Bobby Fuller, and Roy L. Leslie.
Special friends: Late Mattie Mae Davidson, Louise (Binford) Toney, and Annie (David Lee) Robinson.
A host of other nieces & nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Blackburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America (507 Plummer Road Huntsville, AL 35806) with Pastor Tramaine Snodgrass officiating. Interment will be in the Faith Memorial Park. Mrs. Rice will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, and 8:30 until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
