Olympia Stiegele Obituary
Family and friends are kindly invited to visit on Saturday February 7th, beginning at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 12 North Square in Boston's North End, for Olympia L. Levinson – Stiegele who died peacefully at her home in Boston on Saturday, January 31st following a brief illness. She was 85 years old. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Internet will immediately following in St. Michael's Cemetery, Boston.
Olympia was born on August 21st, 1940, in Boston the only child to Aaron "Arthur" Levinson and Enes (Vicario) Levinson. Olympia was proudly raised in Boston's North End and she was surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was educated in Boston Public Schools and was an alumna of the Julie Billiart School Class of 1958. Olympia furthered her education by attending Boston State College where she would earn her bachelor's' degree in Education. She would begin a career in teaching in the Boston Public School, specifically in East boston at the Sherridan School and the Bradley School. She taught kindergarten focusing on early childhood development. She would enjoy a career of 41 years working with children. Olympia also enjoyed a life well lived by traveling to many different places round the world, immersing herself in many different cultures. She would go onto meet her one true love, Eberhard K.O. Stiegele, later marrying on April 22, 2004. Olympia and "Eddie" as she would affectionately call her husband would divide their time between Boston and Miami Beach, Florida. In later years, Olympia was faced with the loss of her eye sight, but being the very determined and strong-willed woman she was, she didn't allow herself to miss out on anything she wanted to do. She was also a woman of great faith and was a devotee of St. Leonard of Port Maurice Parish all of her life. Her faith was what kept her strong and gave her peace.
She is the beloved wife of the late Eberhard K.O. Stiegele. The devoted daughter of the late Aaron "Arthur" Levinson and Enes (Vicario) Levinson. The loving granddaughter of the late Antonio and Giuseppina Vicario. The treasured nieces of the late Alfonso Vicario, Auriellio Vicario and Olympia Vicario. She was also lovingly survived by many friends, former colleagues, and extended family.
