Oma 'Syb' Morgan Obituary
Oma 'Syb' Morgan, a loving homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Stinnett, Kentucky. Born on December 10, 1940, in Leslie County, Kentucky, she lived a life characterized by her nurturing spirit and deep love for her family, friends, and strangers alike.
Syb’s early education culminated in her graduation from the 8th grade, a foundation that served her well throughout her devoted life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She embodied the values of humility and friendliness, making her a beloved figure to those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her hobbies included going to church, reading, cooking, and spending quality time with her family, all of which she cherished deeply.
Syb was married to her loving and devoted husband, Carlos Morgan. Together, they raised a beautiful family that includes daughters Loretta Porter, married to David, and Geneva Feltner, married to Glen. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Jason Porter and Neena Winsby, and as a great-grandmother to Jacelyn Porter and Jacob Porter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Laura Browning Morgan; her son, Leonard Morgan; and her siblings: brothers Otis Griffits, Dave Griffits, and Bob Griffits, as well as sisters Hallie Byrd, Mallie Morgan, Nancy Hoskins, Daisy Hollon, and Mary Marshall.
Her life accomplishments reflect her devotion to her family and faith, with her proudest moments rooted in the love she shared with those around her. Her presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who will remember her legacy of love and kindness.
Visitation services will be held on December 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home in Hyden, KY. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM and conclude on the same day. Syb Morgan’s warm spirit and loving nature will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
