Omer Guei Adama Moussako, born September 9, 1960, passed away on March 15, 2025 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey after a yearlong battle with colon cancer. He was 64.
Omer was born in Tabou, a beautiful coastal village in Cte d'Ivoire, shortly after the country gained independence from France. He is survived by his wife Adele, his two sons, Abraham and Bryan; and three siblings: Bertine, Aboulaye and Hortense, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Omer spent most of his adult life in the United States. He graduated from Brooklyn College with a Masters in Accounting before attending the Baruch College School of Public Administration, where he earned a Master of Public Administration.
Omer worked as an accountant for Columbia University, and before that Weill Cornell Medicine. He was a lifelong learner who was always interested in reading and current events, and he had a passion for sports. He particularly loved football, soccer, and basketball, taking great interest in his son Bryans exploits in high school and university ball. He loved those closest to him and took great pride in their achievements. He liked to keep things simple and to the point, and he kept that spirit up until the very end, insisting on a remembrance that stuck to the essentials.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30 at Halpin - Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad St, Bloomfield, NJ 07003. The online live stream portion will be at 2 PM. It is recommended people come to the in-person portion at 3PM. In-person visitation will last from 3-5 PM.
A private family ceremony follows the next day.
