Omer Zubchevich Obituary

CHANDLER, ARIZONA - Omer "Ozzie" Zubchevich, aka "Mr. Z" to the students of Chandler, age 90, left this earth on April 9, 2022, to be with our Lord and his heavenly family.

He was surrounded by his loving family before he died.

Ozzie is survived by his wife of 55 years Sharon; four sons, Craig, Keith, Todd, and Guy; nine grandchildren, Craig Jr., Madison, Tyler, Carson, Ashby, Tierney, Zylah, Skylah and Zayden and one great-grandchild, Barrett.

Ozzie and Sharon opened the Little Red Schoolhouse Preschool and Kindergarten and served the Mountain Home community for 10 years. Ozzie owned and operated the Mountain Home Speech and Hearing Center for 15 years, was on the staff of Baxter Hospital for 15 years as a speech pathologist doing stroke rehabilitation and served on The Mountain Home City Council.

Ozzie was a speech pathologist on staff at three hospitals for over 26 years. He also had a private practice. He helped many people through the years and never met a stranger.

After he retired, he substituted for the Chandler School District mostly at San Tan Junior High, his favorite. The students and teachers loved their "Mr. Z." The students would greet him no matter where he went and love to talk to him.

Ozzie was born in Chicago, lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas for 20 years, also Colorado and California and then 20 years in Chandler, Arizona.

Ozzie served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and the Korean War.

A Catholic funeral mass will be held in his honor at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at St. Stevens Church, 24827 S. Dobson Road, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. A remembrance reception will be held at Sunbird Golf Resort on the patio of the club house after the mass.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, brothers and sisters.

It has been many years since Mr. Z walked through our halls at Santan Jr. High, but he has been thought about dozens, and dozens, and dozens of times since!

He made a difference. He made the world a better place. There is NO higher compliment that can be said of a person.

Thank you for YOU, Mr. Z!
