Oneil Clemenson of Clover, South Carolina, transitioned to his eternal home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 61. He lived a life of service, laughter, abundant love for his family and friends and was an avid golfer.
Oneil was born on March 27, 1963, in St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica, to the late Mr. Wilfred Clemenson and Mrs. Eunett Andre (Mr. Jean Max Andre). Oneil migrated to the United States from Jamaica at age 8 and was raised in Bronx, New York by his mother Eunett Andre and stepfather, Jean Max Andre. A creative spirit, Oneil displayed immense talent in art from a young age. He graduated from the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & the Arts, formerly known as The High School of Music and Arts in Harlem, New York where he was celebrated for his exceptional artwork.
Oneil was a veteran of the United State Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country for over 20 years and attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He served with distinction and was honored for his bravery and commitment with an honorable discharged on September 1, 2011. As a civilian, Oneil worked as a Nuclear Security Office for Duke Energy in York, South Carolina, until his retirement on April 10, 2022.
Oneil was a beloved family man dedicated to the love of his life and wife Angela Chambers-Clemenson who he married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2008, as a testament to their everlasting love. He took great pride in being a parent and his two sons brought him immense joy. Oneil was a self-proclaimed "mama's boy" who cherished the strong bond he shared with his mother and stepfather who raised him Max. He was proud of the home he built and attached an in-law suite to honor his parents. Oneil passionately embraced life during retirement, moving his parents into his home, convincing his siblings to move to Clover, becoming an award-winning golfer, and organizing multiple family gatherings. Oneil flourished in his role as the "family glue" fostering a close-knit family environment. He was a proud Jamaican and his talent for crafting the perfect Jamaican rum punch was a highlight at many gatherings, bringing joy to those around him. Oneil had an extensive military family he maintained long term and long-distance relationships with. He cherished his golf buddies whom he affectionately referred to as his golf brothers. Oneil had a unique ability to make others laugh and feel comfortable, embodying a spirit of simple elegance. His infectious smile, laughter and jokes will forever be remembered by all who came into his presence. Oneil leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and boundless generosity, that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Oneil is survived by his loving and devoted wife Angela Chambers-Clemenson, as well as his children Oneil Clemenson Jr. and David Clemenson (Lancaster, South Carolina). In addition, Oneil's memory will be cherished by his mother Mrs. Eunett Andre, stepfather Mr. Jean Max Andre, and siblings Valerie Clemenson, Maurice Clemenson (Tricia), and Kimberly Andre-Maxwell (Joseph). He will also be missed by his nieces, Brittney (Julian), Zoey, great-niece Sariya, nephews Rashawn (Ebony), Brendan, Bryce, Mason, Jaden, Maddox, numerous cousins, in-laws and his lifelong friends from all over the country who became his extended family.
