Opal Beavers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Peachtree Corners Chapel on Mar. 10, 2025.
Opal Fain Beavers, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 9, 2025, at the well seasoned age of 96. She was born November 20, 1928 in picturesque Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia to the late Thomas Fain and Lovine Adams Fain. Opal lived a life rich in love and treasured friendships, embodying joy and temperance throughout her long journey.
Growing up as the oldest of eight siblings, Opal embraced her role as a loving sister and mentor, holding a special place in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her beloved niece Rebecca Goforth and nephew Edwin Evans, along with eight other cherished nieces and nephews, and several adored great-nieces and nephews who will carry on her legacy of kindness and warmth.
Opal's career as a manager with Southern Bell spanned an impressive 32 years, where she cultivated lasting friendships and the deep respect of her peers. She took pride in her work, and in particular was recognized for her outstanding public relations talent. She cherished memories of the occasional treat of a lunch at Rich's Magnolia Room!
An avid gardener, Opal found immense joy in nurturing her flowers, bringing beauty to her home and sharing it with others. She loved her opportunities for travel, particularly getting to see JFK's Presidential library and a trip to England in the early 2000s. She was a lifelong Anglophile. Her love of the Atlanta Braves was acquired late in life; she attended her first Braves game at age 90! She was also a continuous reader of history and biography as well as spiritual literature.
Opal is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Hubert Beavers. His memory is also fondly held by her extended family since his death in 1996.
In celebration of Opal's remarkable life, a Graveside Service will be held at Peachtree Memorial Park on March 14, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Prior to this, a Funeral Service will take place at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel at 11:00 AM, following a Visitation at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring a life well-lived, one marked by laughter, love, and countless beautiful memories.
Opal Beavers will be laid to rest at Peachtree Memorial Park. She will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched, a beacon of love, resilience, and joy.
