Opal Irene Gudger

Mrs. Opal Irene Davis Gudger, 99, of Ellijay, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Parkside Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Ellijay, to Tamar Elavee Greenway Davis and William Rector Davis. She was a 1942 graduate of Gilmer High School and a faithful member of Mountaintown Baptist Church for more than 75 years.

She is preceded in death by husband, James "Jim" Gudger; son, Ronald Gudger; grandson, William Gudger; and son-in-law, Richard Davenport.

She is survived by daughter, Janet Gudger Davenport; and son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marianne Gudger, all of Ellijay; daughter-in-law, Sharon Nicholson Gudger, of Dunwoody; grandchildren, Kimberly and Don Clerici, Brent Davenport, Jonathan Gudger, Caroline Gudger, Ethan and Sterling Gudger, and Seth and Madison Gudger; great-grandchildren, Kendall, Morgan and Brooklyn Clerici, Magnolia and Josie Gudger and Ward Gudger; brothers, Vic Davis, of Ellijay, and Bobby and Jane Davis, of Rome.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 22, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Logan Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Snider officiating.

Interment followed in Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brent Davenport, Jonathan Gudger, Ethan Gudger, Seth Gudger, Don Clerici, Jae McCoy, Kevin Davis and Keith Davis.
