Opal Lucille Hammack Wilson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Brandon, MS. She was 91 years old. The family will receive friends and extended family for visitation from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Florence City Cemetery in Florence, MS.

Opal was born on June 1, 1934, to Robert Cline Hammack and Vera Gill Hammack in Terry, MS. She and her husband Buck lived in Florence for over 61 years. Opal began her work life as a bookkeeper for B.I.C. After retirement, she worked as a part time secretary for First Baptist Church of Florence for several years. She continued working at Perry’s Rexall Drugs in Florence until she retired. She was an active member of FBC of Florence and taught Sunday School there until April of this year. Opal loved to sew, read, and gardening. She was very close to her siblings and family and always put everyone else’s needs above her own. Opal will truly be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Ray “Buck” Wilson, and three sisters. Opal is survived by her daughter, Cindy Crotchett (Darren) of Brandon; son, Steve Wilson (Stephanie) of Brandon; grandchildren, Jason Ainsworth (Sarah), Bradley Ainsworth (Cristen), Chandler Crotchett (Shelby Bearden, fiancé), Mason Wilson, and Morgan Cora; great grandchildren, Jack Ainsworth, Walker Ainsworth, Grayson Ainsworth, Holden Jordan, and Amelia Martin; brothers, Billy Hammack (Donnie) of Richland, and Robert Hammack of Flora; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
