Opal was born in Teasdale, UT, on November 23, 1932, to Clarence S. and Elma Coleman Collier. She was the fourth child and the first daughter of the couple. She spent most of her childhood in Teasdale, where she attended elementary school. Her family moved to Loa for a short time and then moved to Richfield, UT. She graduated from Richfield High School in May of 1951. After graduation, she moved to Salt Lake City, where she was employed by Benson- Elbridge Insurance as a bookkeeper for four years.
She returned to Richfield, where she was employed by Garkane Power Association as a billing clerk and secretary. During this time, she was blessed with her first daughter, Debra Lee, in 1955.
She married Leon Johnson on July 31, 1965, and was blessed with her second daughter, Connie Michelle, in December 1966. For the next two years, she worked at Labrum Ford and Zions Bank. She returned to working for Garkane, where she was employed for 38 years prior to retiring.
She held several positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as secretary for the Relief Society and Young Women's. She taught in Sunday School. She was also the secretary of the Business and Professional Women's Club for three years.
Her hobbies included painting, reading, dancing, and traveling. She spent several winters in Quartzsite, AZ, with her husband and loved it; she loved traveling and meeting new friends.
She died March 26, 2026, in Provo, UT.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her husband, three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by two brothers, Lamond and Bryce; daughter, Debra Lee; daughter, Connie Michelle; son-in-law, Billy; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Richfield 9th Ward Chapel.
Viewings will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Magleby Mortuary in Richfield and again prior to services on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
