Opal Potesta Obituary
She was born in Leon, WV to the late John and Mary Plants Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Silvi Potesta; infant daughter and brothers, William, Earl, Clinton, Howard, Charles and James Jenkins.
Opal was employed as a Buyer for the former Diamond Department Store and retired from the former Kelley's Men Shop in Charleston. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Charleston.
Surviving are her special niece, Kim Potesta-Pauley; nephews, Timothy Potesta, Ron Potesta (Terry); niece, Carlotta Yonkers and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans with Father Thomas Kalapurackal officiating. Entombment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Gloria Ferrell, Doris Kowgill, Barbara Widdecombe, Stacy Tolbert and HospiceCare for all their love and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers she suggested a donation to St. Anthony Catholic Church, Capital Improvements Fund, 1000 6th Street, Charleston, WV 25302.

Opal was a buyer at the Diamond of children's clothing for almost 20 years. She was a wonderful, kind and beautiful person, and always cared about many people. She and Sil were a perfect couple, I'm sure Sil and Opal are together now. Condolences to family from a friend of 50+ years. Rest in Peace Opal. Lots of people will miss you.
