Ophelia Hitt Gibbs, age 87, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at her residence in Lake, MS. Her visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday, February 2, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Her services will take place in our Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM. Her burial will follow at Salem Baptist Cemetery in Lake, MS. Bro. Don Savell, Bro. Kenny Lang and Bro. William Savell, will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Ophelia was born to Jimmy Hitt and Ludie Agnes Gibbs on March 29, 1936, in Newton County, MS. She was a lifelong resident of Scott County, MS. Ophelia loved cooking, sewing and she loved being around her grandchildren.
Ophelia was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Hitt and Ludie Agnes Gibbs; her husband, Gene Austin Gibbs; her son, Larry Charles Gibbs; her grandson, William Gibbs; her sister, Sarah Hitt and her brother, William Richard. She is survived by her four sons, Rickey, Alton, Tim, and Ron Gibbs all of Lake, MS; her sister, Katie McCann; her brother, Jimmy Lee Hitt; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
