Jeanna Gale Nichols, known affectionately as Gale, passed away on July 4, 2025, in Union, MS, at the age of 80. Born on January 22, 1945, in Winona, MS, to Vernon Austin and Mavis Marie Braswell Austin, Gale was a beloved mother, a cherished grandmother, wonderful sister, and a devoted family member.

Gale's life was a rich tapestry woven with a passion for reading and an appreciation for gospel music, which brought her joy throughout her years. She cherished her family above all, dedicating herself to nurturing and supporting them in every way she could. Her legacy is one of love and resilience, and she will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Reece (Weyman), and her son, Kris Nichols (Geniveve), along with nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Ann Stringer and Jo Chamblee, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Gale was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Gene Nichols, as well as her sons, Kevin and Ken Nichols, her granddaughter, Jo Anna Nichols, and her parents, Vernon "Dick" and Mavis Austin. The absence of these loved ones leaves a void that will be felt by her family.
