Ophelia Jones

Ophelia Jones was born on February 25th, 1935, to Louis and

Margaret Josephine Clay. She departed this life on Thursday

November 13 th , 2025.

She joined Utteringtown Baptist Church Fayette County under the

leadership of Reverend J. A. Taylor. Ophelia was a caregiver for

many years. She loved going to church and spending time with

her family. She was a Sunday school teacher, the President of the

Sister Benevolent Club, and she was over the kitchen in the

church.

Ophelia Jones is preceded in death by her Father Louis M. Clay,

Mother Margaret Josephine Clay, her loving husband Russell

Jones Sr, her brothers Nelson Clay (Josephine), J. T. Clay, and

Red Clay (Patricia) , her sister Christine Hampton, her sons

Howard Coleman Jones (Patsy) and Louis Jones, her daughter

Margaret Clay, and her granddaughter Marveltta L. Clay. Ophelia

leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Anna P. Shaw,

Russell Jones Jr, Martha L. Jones, Lillian M. Jones, Virginia L.

Jones, and Donald Raglan (Debra Raglan). One sister, Virginia

Jenkins (Don). She leaves a large and loving family, including

cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,

great-great-grandchildren, and many others. She also leaves her

church family and countless friends who will hold her memory

dear.
