Ora McCray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Funeral Home - Mattapan on Feb. 8, 2023.
Ora Lee Drayton McCray was born in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, January 23, 1948 to the late Eddie Sr. and Maggie (Lewis) Drayton. Ora Lee was the sixth of seven children and the second of three girls born in this union. She peacefully departed this life on Saturday, January 28, 2023 surrounded by family.
Ora Lee attended Concord Baptist Church and Boston Public Schools. She joined Frank Montgomery McCray in holy matrimony in April 1972. She was a loving mother to Donna (1968), Francine (1973), and Tyrone (1977). She was a devoted and diligent caretaker and mother-figure for several generations of nieces and nephews during their formative years.
With the love, support and care of an attentive family, Ora Lee transcended her limitations to live a full and balanced life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed cooking, lottery scratch tickets, completing word puzzle books, watching televised crime and game shows, family gatherings, classic R&B Music, and dancing. Her favorite dance was "The Bump". She was a friendly, easy-going, and fun-loving spirit with a great sense of humor and memory. She never met a stranger. She was a fighter who valiantly endured multiple medical treatments and procedures to exceed the expectations of her illnesses.
Ora Lee was preceded in death by her husband Frank, daughter Donna, parents Eddie Sr. and Maggie, and siblings Thomas, Robert, Myzella, Matthew "Poppa Ray", and Eddie "Twister" Drayton. She leaves to mourn her, sister Marilyn Drayton Taylor; children Francine and Tyrone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
