Mrs. Ora D. Walton was born on October 18, 1938 to the late Lake and Quillie Suttles. She made her transition to rest safely in "His" arms on Monday, August 7, 2023 at home. Ora found Christ at an early age and joined the Provewell Baptist Church and was baptized in Sprotts, Alabama. She was very active in church gatherings and loved to sing and pray. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Sprotts, Alabama.
Ora met and married the late Reverend Dr. Joseph Walton Senior in 1957 and to this union five children were born which consisted of two boys and three girls. Darlene & (Tony), Joseph Junior (deceased), Belinda Henry, Brenda Heard & James (deceased), Daniel & (Carol). They later migrated to
Elizabeth, New Jersey where Ora nurtured her family for over 50 years. Ora's main purpose in life was "to do good to everyone, to people I meet in life and if I can help somebody, my living will not be in vain." Ora worked in the Elizabeth school district as a teacher's aide, Election board member, and Elizabeth Recreation Department. However, Ora kept pressing her way and trusting in the Lord. She was a President of the choir, member of the Usher's department, member of the Prayer Line of House of Prayer Holy Mission of
Trenton, New Jersey, member of the Missionary Teacher of Sunday School, member of the Motherboard of Saint Matthews Baptist Church in
Roselle, New Jersey, member of Abatenjwa Alliance of Minister Wives and Ministers, member of the Inside / Outside Ministry, Widows' member of Eastern Star. She actively conducted wellness checkups in nursing homes and via phone call.
Ora leaves to cherish her memory: Ruth Patterson (sister), Ned Suttles (brother), Oscar Suttles (deceased), Samuel Suttles (deceased), Jake Suttles (deceased), Bob Suttles (deceased). She leaves 5 children, 18 grands: Lloyd Bailey, Aaron Bailey (deceased), Samuel Bailey, Tameka Walton; Tyris Henry, Theodore Wilkins, Akeem Wilson, Domonique Wilson, Edward Wilson (deceased), Keysa Walton, Danielle Walton, Kiara Walton, Shavon Roberts, Queen Walton, Daniel Walton Jr., Daquan Walton, Ebony Walton and great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.
Ora's family and other loved ones will miss her; however, we can find peace knowing she is reunited with so many loved ones who were missing her smile.
