Oscar Booth Obituary

Oscar Marques Booth

September 12, 2000 ~

March 21, 2025

Sandy, UT-

With broken hearts, we share the passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend, Oscar Marques Booth, who left this world far too soon on March 21, 2025, at the age of 24.

Oscar was born to Susan Marques Booth and Paul G. Booth. As a child, he was adventurous, endlessly curious, and full of energy-a gifted athlete and a running back on his little league football team, where he made unforgettable memories with his teammates and coaches. He was quick-witted, funny, and had a deep, tender heart.

Oscar had a special bond with many, especially with his big sister, Eliza, and his cousin Gracie, who was more like a sister. He adored his family, including his loving grandmother Ivone, his aunts Lillian, Julie, Emily, and Jessica, his cousin Sydney, and brother-in-law William. He also shared a birthday with his beloved Aunt Vivian, who, along with his grandfather Nelson Marques and grandmother Janet Green Booth Palmer, preceded him in death.

At around 18, Oscar began showing the full symptoms of schizophrenia. It wasn't until years later that he received a formal diagnosis and treatment that offered real hope. He faced his mental illness alongside struggles with addiction, and though his journey was painful and complex, he never stopped loving others fiercely and showing his heart to those around him.

Oscar ended his life after years of battling inner chaos. We take comfort in knowing that his tormented mind is finally at peace, and we will forever cherish the beautiful moments we had with him.

We will honor his memory with a Celebration of Life on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Big Bear Park, 930 East Onyx Lane, Sandy, Utah-the place where some of his happiest memories were made. We will gather to share food, stories, and memories.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please know you are not alone. There is help, there is hope, and your life matters. National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 988

In honor of Oscar, we ask that you reach out, check on your friends, speak openly about mental health, and never hesitate to say "I love you."

I do not know you or Oscar. I was in the medical field for over 18 years so I check the obits. regularly for past patients I still love and remember. Oscar's obit. caught my eye because of his picture, so young. I was touched by his obituary and how open and honest you were about it. I wish more people would openly share so others know that they are not alone. My brother took his own life in 2010 and my dad could never be honest with anyone about how or why. He still to this day will say it was a blood clot. Condolences to you and everyone who loved Oscar. He seemed like an amazing loved young man. I am sure he is dancing in the sky to pure happiness. May he forever rest in peace.

I´m writing as someone who was deeply touched by Oscar´s obituary. I was a psychiatric RN for 30 years; as I read the memorial I was reminded of so many patients who struggled as Oscar did with schizophrenia and addiction and ultimately the tragedy of suicide. It´s obvious that Oscar was loved deeply by his family and I hope you´re comforted by that. Bless you.

I knew a cute little boy named Paul Booth many years ago. He had a big sister named Rosalie. I am sending my condolences to you, whether he is this boy's father or not. May your happy memories bring you comfort at this time of grief.

I did not know your son, I saw his memorial and wanted to acknowledge your loss and offer my deepest sympathies. Thank you for your generosity in sharing how he passed. It makes a difference for so many who are suffering alone. In your time of grief you thought of others and I aspire to this level of transparency and grace. May you find peace in the memories and traditions you shared. I am truly so sorry for your loss.
