Oscar Keith Henderson, age 74, died Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at his home in Logandale, Nevada. He was born December 29, 1947 in Panguitch, Utah to George Keith and Yvonne Lister Henderson. On January 13, 1971 he married Kerrie Ann Frei in Logandale, Nevada. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple.
Oscar spent his early years in Cannonville, Utah. Around age five, his family relocated to Moapa Valley where he lived the remainder of his life. Oscar worked for Simplot, Silver State and finally in road maintenance for NDOT. He was best known for his volunteer spirit. He served as a Scout leader (he was awarded the Silver Beaver), as "Rootie The Pig" (the mascot for the Clark County Fair) and in many church callings. He was always ready to be the camp cook for church camps, youth conferences and other community activities. Since July 2020 he, and some of his friends, have been committed to posting American Flags through out the valley.
Survivors include his wife, Kerrie of Logandale, NV; one son and two daughters: Rebecca Wright of Las Vegas, NV; Owen (Carrie) of Overton, NV; Jennie (George) Edinger of Wilmington, NC; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Sprague of St. George, UT and Joyce (Ron) Leavitt of Overton, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents one sister, Rhoana Deelstra and one brother, Ray Henderson Stewart.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary; Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hinckley Chapel, 1605 Hinckley Avenue, Logandale, NV. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will be Friday, January 6, 2023 at 8 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV.
