Sharon "Sherry" Brackenbury Epperson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away March 5, 2026, in
Hurricane, Utah. She was born October 23, 1943, in
Tacoma, Washington, to Bruce Brackenbury and Ruth Powell Brackenbury.
As a young girl, Sherry spent time along the Washington and Oregon coasts, places she loved and returned to often with her family. She developed an early love for horses, the outdoors, reading, and especially the mountains. Known as a daddy's girl, Sherry shared a special bond with her father that helped shape the person she became.
Sherry later moved to Draper, Utah, where she completed high school. She went on to spend most of her life in Utah, raising her family in Sandy. Curious and eager to learn, she pursued a variety of interests and careers throughout her life. She earned a degree as a paralegal, became a licensed Emergency Medical Technician, and later became an esthetician.
In retirement, Sherry moved to Mesquite, Nevada. During those years, she enjoyed living near her daughter Keri's family and shared a very close bond with them.
Sherry had an adventurous spirit and a whimsical way of seeing the world. She loved long car rides, researching and visiting ghost towns-especially old cemeteries-and when her children were young, taking trips up Little Cottonwood Canyon to enjoy breakfast by the river. She was very social and genuinely interested in others, their backgrounds, and their stories.
When someone needed help, Sherry showed up. She gave what she could, in the ways she knew how, quietly, sincerely, and without expecting anything in return. She was also incredibly funny. Her stories were legendary-wild, colorful, and always delivered with a spark that made you lean in and listen. Her humor could fill a room, turn a difficult day around, and remind everyone not to take life too seriously.
Sherry leaves behind a beautiful family, each carrying a piece of who she was. She is survived by her children: Kimberly (Sydney) Wengreen, Michael (Lori) Epperson, and Keri (Jessy) Smith; grandchildren: Meaghann, Colby, Chase, Dallin, Jessyka, Natosha, Brandon, Ashley, Ryan, Brooklyn, Madison, Boston, Amelia, Aiden, and Annika; 10 great-grandchildren, nephew, Jay Wilson and a special companionship with Gary Slater. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Leah Pack, Brian Brackenbury, and Linda Wilson.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we shared with her. Sherry lived a life that was imperfect, beautiful, complicated, and full of love. Her legacy lives on not only in the stories she told, but in the lessons she taught-about trying, stumbling, laughing, and always getting back up. We look forward to the day we will see her again.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
