Oscar Pineda Obituary

Visit the James A. Murphy & Son Funeral Home, Inc. website to view the full obituary.

Oscar Vitalino Castillo Pineda of Dorchester, passed away peacefully on November 28th, 2025 at the age of 50 in his sleep. He was born in 1975, on June 12th.

Born to Catalino Castillo Jimenez and Maria Luisa Pineda García in Guatemala, where his home and heart truly resided. He grew up with a very large and hard working family surrounding him. From a young age, he developed a deep sense of strength and resilience - values that were taught by his hard work in the fields and guided him in life.

Oscar emigrated to the United States as a young father, where he eventually settled in Boston, Massachusetts - making it his home for 26 years. He worked countless jobs, eventually settling on being a cook for the Eire Pub where he loved his job, his coworkers, and the atmosphere.

Outside of work, Oscar had a passion for cars, especially his truck. He loved going out to new places, whether it was to take photos, eat, or just for a drive. He loved spending time with his loved ones, and lived for the simple moments between family.

He is survived by his daughter, Marialuisa Castillo Arias, his son Oscar Castillo Castillo, and countless friends and loved ones whose lives he touched deeply. His kindness, generosity, and devotion will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the time to visit and offer their condolences during this difficult time. Oscar would have appreciated everyone who has come, from near and far, for helping to support the family. Your kind words, presence, and support have provided great comfort to us all.

A personal note from Oscar’s daughter: My father has been there since the day I was born, after every hospital visit, or important event in my life, he has been the dad who has provided for his family, shared memories with his family and even accepted the other half of my family. He is the most hardworking and responsible man I’ve ever met in my entire life. I’ve never once starved, not had shoes or clothes and just had everything a daughter could ask for. He has left an example of what I do deserve in my life, and that only I can make something of myself. At the end of it, I truly love him and only wish he is at peace, nothing more and nothing less because if I learned anything from him is to not take what I have for granted.

Family and friends will honor and remember Oscar’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, on Wednesday evening, December 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any contributions be made to support Marialuisa, who will be present at the entrance to assist with arrangements.
