Oscar P. Rivera Sr., aged 62, passed away on September 19, 2025, in Austin, TX. Born on June 4, 1963, in Odessa, TX, Oscar was a beloved figure in both his hometown and Austin, where he made his lasting mark as a master carpet installer.

From the young age of 13, Oscar began his journey in the carpet industry with Cruz Carpet Service. His dedication and skill quickly became evident, leading him to become self-employed by the age of 20. Over the years, Oscar built a reputation for excellence, working with various companies including Benson and CDC Carpets alongside Wyoma Craghead, forming a partnership that lasted over four decades. Oscar was renowned for his ability to handle complex materials, and his installations beautified countless homes and businesses across the Austin and Westlake area to name a few.

Oscar's personality was as vibrant as his career. He was the heart and soul of every gathering, known for his contagious zest for life and his innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved.

He was also an avid enthusiast of classic cars, pool, dominos, fishing and boxing. His hobbies reflected his passion for life and the joy he found in every moment.

Oscar is survived by his loving family, including his wife Jackie Rivera and children Jennifer R. Jackson, Tronvoric Stephens, Jessica Rivera, Ortravon Stephens, LaTasha R. Sattler, and Oscar Rivera Jr. He was preceded in death by LaShana Taylor, Federico Brito Rivera, and Candida Chavez.

Services to honor Oscar's life will be held at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, located at 6204 S 1st St. Austin, TX 78745, on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:45 PM. A Mass will follow on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Rd, Austin, TX 78749.

Oscar's legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and community spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.
