Otelia Wheeler, age 92, of Trenton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Otelia will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024 in the Trenton Chapel with Mike Keith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour. Otelia will be laid to rest at Trenton Baptist Cemetery.
Otelia was born in Spencer, Tennessee on December 11, 1931 to the late Alfred & Ethel Paine and has been a resident of the Dade County area for many years. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald B. Wheeler; sisters, Betty Acuff, Ruth Keeton, Ann Clark and Janice Raines; and son-in-law, John F. Wallin.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Bill) Ware, sons, Tony Wheeler, Michael Wheeler, Tim (Rhonda) Wheeler and Daniel (Missy) Wheeler; sister, Shirley Mitchum and brother, Wendell Paine, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Sandra) Wheeler.
Otelia loved her family with all her heart and was deeply rooted in her faith for God. She was a longtime member of Trenton Church of Christ where she attended with her family. She loved to crochet quilts, blankets and baking cakes. Many trips were made to the beach with her family where they enjoyed time together. Otelia will forever be remembered in the hearts of all who knew her. Although her passing has left a void, her family is reassured that she is now at home with the Lord.
