Mr. Otis Coleman Like, age 84, of Scottsville, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at 9:06 am at his residence.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 26th, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Masonic Services will be held at May 26th, 2024 at 5:00 PM at funeral home with military rites by the Simpson County Honor Guard.
Otis was born on October 24th, 1939 in Pinkstaff, IL, to the late Ollie Otis Like and the late Emma Minnie Owen Like. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean Like Brown; and 6 siblings, Earl D. McKelvey, James Earl Like, Fred Like, Dorothy Webster, Wava Short Spears and Linda Britton.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Ellen Like; 3 children, Coleman Like of Scottsville, KY, Ellen Birdwell (Jeff) of Scottsville, KY and Becky Sampson (Jonathan) of Franklin, KY; 8 grandchildren, Coleman, Emma, Misty, Jeffery, James, Tyler, C.J. and Dillon; 24 great-grandchildren.
Otis was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a former member and deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church. Otis was member of the Masonic Lodge #208 F&AM. He was a retired truck driver for Bestway. Otis enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and especially sitting on the front porch enjoying nature while smoking a cigar.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Marie Pitts, 1006 Seng Ave., Franklin, KY 42134. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
