Otis Nero was born in Timmonsville, SC on March 23, 1950, to the late Rucuis and Lucille (Bradford) Nero. He departed this life August 23, 2025, at the age of 75.
He attended Timmonsville Public School System and Job Corp.
He accepted Christ in his life at an early age at Howard Chapel Baptist Freewill Church under the leadership of Rev. AR Rose.
He was formally employed with Vulcraft, Price Pool, Palmetto Paving, and retired from SC Department of Transportation.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Rucuis and Lucille Nero; three sisters Pearlina McDonald, Willie Dean Doctor, and Barbara Ann Gadson; and his first grandson Markell LaQuan Nero.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Betty Nero of 56 years, his three sons; Michael (Brenda) Nero of Texas, Mark (Felicia) Nero and Mitchell Washington of Florence, and a daughter Monita (Ryan) Cummings of Florence; seven grandchildren, Teoshia Nero, Tyeshia (Jacques) Johnson of Texas, Markia Nero, MaLeah Nero, and MaKayla Nero, Ryan Cummings Jr. of Florence, and Markese Nero of NC. Four great grands; A'niyah Jones, Jakaden Tennell, Jacorques Johnson Jr. of Texas, and MacKenzie Sweet of Florence. Otis surviving siblings include Charles (Rosa Mae) Nero of Florence, Betty (Cleveland) Hart, Henry (Patricia) Nero, and Larry Nero of Timmonsville, SC, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Otis's love, laughter, and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
