Otis Edo Sheppard

Mr. Otis Edo Sheppard, age 83, of Honaker, Virginia passed away Friday (March 6, 2026) at his home. Born October 14, 1942 in Drill, Virginia, he was a son of the late Alex McKinley and Lola Mae Baldwin Sheppard. A lifelong resident of the area, he had proudly served his country in the United States Army being stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he had worked at several local places including Imperial Gas Station, Bostic Coal Tipple, and Modern Chevrolet. He was of the Holiness faith and attended Robinson Fork Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed working on vehicles, but most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Sheppard, Ralph Sheppard, Bill Sheppard, and James Sheppard; and special daughter-in-law, Melanie Sheppard.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Nellie Wyona Sheppard; three children, Otis Edward Sheppard and fiancée, Summer Canady, Lora Lynn Sheppard, and Samantha Nicole Sheppard Hess and husband, Jeffrey; five grandchildren, Dustin Alan Sheppard and fiancée, Ann Marie Duty, Angela Danielle Sheppard and fiancé, Adam Ray, Kevin Walker Sheppard and fiancée, Cheyenne Barton, Travis Tyler Sheppard, and Blake Edo Sheppard and fiancée, Abby Hess; three siblings, Mildred Honaker, Needem Sheppard, and Ernest "Duke" Sheppard; one expected great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Mike Justice and Rev. Aaron Feeser officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery at Drill, Virginia.

Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9864 of Lebanon, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and William Rutherford.

Rick Pennington will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
