On May 7, 2024 Otis Leon Slade of 2649 Altamahaw Union Ridge Road, Burlington North Carolina, the son of the late Dewey Hawkins Slade and Daisy Shaw Slade, was called to rest following several years of declining health.
Born on October 11, 1942 in Alamance County, Otis was reared in the Clover Garden Community and attended the local school system. Otis worked for Elon College for more than 20 years in the landscaping department. He loved playing baseball in his younger years, shooting pool and spending time with his Family.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife Virginia Slade of the home, two sons, Lester L. Slade, and Travis Crisp (Belinda), one daughter Sharon B. Willis all of Burlington NC. One brother Donald Slade (Yvette) of Burlington, NC one sister Evelyn Watkins of Elon, NC. Six grandchildren, Six great-grand children and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by one son Varnodia "Buck" Tinnin, o grandson Brandon L. Slade, three brothers, Elton, Willie and Jack Slade, sisters Verlina S. Johnson and Gertrude S. Johnson.
