May 16, 1950 - February 23, 2026

CHARLESTON – Otto Clayton Brewer, 75, of Charleston, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026 at SBLHC.

Otto was born May 16, 1950 in Charleston, Ill., son of Jackson and Ethel Marie (Simpkins) Brewer. He married Karen Sue Cox, May 18, 1968, at Westfield; she survives.

Also surviving are their children, Brian (Peggy) Brewer and Jay Brewer; grandchildren, Brittney Garbo, Lindsey Brewer, McKenzie Justice, and Emma Brewer; six great-grandchildren; two very special nieces, Katelin Ifft and Kylie Terpening; one brother, Bill Brewer; two sisters, Kay Gordon and Nancy Lee Burnett; nephew, Seth Brewer; and nieces, Macey and Mallory Brewer. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Gratton Bennett; and several brothers and sisters.

Otto was a carpenter by trade, and had worked for Reasor Corporation, Drake Homes, Chuck Parker, Reggie Phillips, and Dave Stewart. In his early days, he had worked for the Railroad. Otto had attended the Westfield United Methodist Church with his wife, and he enjoyed fishing. In later years, he and Karen would just take off in the car and enjoy seeing the sights, including trips to Parke County, Ind.

A family celebration will be planned in the summer. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
