Mar 24, 1946 - Dec 23, 2025
Otto Brown, 79, of Beardstown, passed away Monday, December 23, 2025, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was born on March 24, 1946, the son of Otto and Leota Brown. He married Sherrill Miller on March 17, 2012, and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2018.
Otto is survived by his stepson, "Little" Robert Norton; sister-in-law, Mary Brown; nieces, Sarah (Bill) Morris and Robin (Quentin) Casson; friends, Jennifer, John, Emma VanGiesen, Michael and Jeremy Kurfman and special friends; Scott and Mary Ann Davis, and Tom and Lisa Buhlig. In addition to his wife, Sherrill, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Raymond Brown, Jimmy Brown, Rick Brown, Robert Brown; and sister: Donna Brown.
Otto's immense love for his wife Sherrill was demonstrated through the attention and care he gave to her after her devastating cancer diagnosis. Otto greatly enjoyed being around people. He especially looked forward to spending time eating and talking with his friends at the Golden Age Center in Beardstown. Otto was also blessed with a community of friends at Everest Supportive Living in Beardstown. He was proud of his "apartment" at Everest and appreciated the guidance and care he received from the staff there. Otto lived a simple life, but was very content with his circumstances. He was a blessing to many who took the time to get to know him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 1 p.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday, January 2nd. Memorials are suggested to the Everest Supportive Living Fund, or the Beardstown Bread of Love. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
