HESSE, Otto Norbert
February 7, 1933 – March 21, 2023
Otto Hesse of Balcarres Integrated Care Centre, formerly of Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
He was born on February 7, 1933, in the District of Windthorst, Saskatchewan to Frank and Hedwig Hesse (nee Cordes). He was the ninth of eleven children.
Otto was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Anita Hesse (nee Smuk – 2020); parents Frank and Hedwig; siblings William, Marianne, Herbert, Paul, Wilfred, Agnes, Joseph, Dorothy and Francis (infant); as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He is survived by his brother, Charles (Chuck); Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edith, Vicky, Orest (Rebecca), Steve (Liz) and Benny; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Otto was a very friendly, outgoing and caring man, who loved to spend time watching, playing or coaching sports. "He was an avid Leaf's fan to the end."
When he resided in Regina, he was very involved at his catholic parish, St. Cecilia. He sang in the senior choir, was a member of the Men's Club, worked at several fundraising bingo's, was a greeter, usher and also the caretaker for several years until he encountered health problems.
Otto will be truly missed by all who knew him.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5020 7 Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Oliver Inchody officiating. A private interment will take place at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Cemetery, Hubbard, SK.
