Ovidio is preceded in death by his parents, Romolo Romero and Rebecca (Martinez) Romero. His beloved wife Josie (Montaño) Romero. Son-in-law Joseph Gallegos. Great Grandson, Elijah Villarreal and Grandson, Anthony Villarreal.

Ovidio is survived by his children, Lillian Vondra (Rodney) Shirley Gallegos, Raymond Romero (Debi) Grandchildren: Lucas Aragon, Gabriel Villarreal, Christopher Romero, Shana Vondra and Corey Gallegos Great Grandchildren: Estrella Villarreal, Leilah Villarreal, Marcos Aragon, Michael Aragon, Josie Vondra, Ayden Gallegos

Ovidio is also survived by his long time Friend, Betty Field.

Ovidio grew up in Questa, NM. From stories we have been told, Ovidio was quite the "prankster". These stories some of which were told by him. We'd all be sitting around the table, and we would laugh. The more we laughed (you have to understand Ovidio was quite the "Ham"). He would repeat the story and embellish. His family had a small farm, raised cattle, chickens, pigs, sheep. Their home had no running water or electricity. They had wood stoves and wood heaters. They didn't have a whole lot, however, their parents gave them a very good life.

Ovidio eventually left Questa to work with his Dad in Wyoming. Herding sheep, and living the "Cowboy Life". They traveled in covered wagons, and as Wyoming has very harsh winters, Ovidio and his Dad had a wood stove in the wagon.

Eventually, Ovidio meet Josie Montaño, and fell 'head over heels" and they were wed on June 24, 1956.

The kids started coming soon after. Ovidio joined the Army to make a better life for his family. As the family grew, Ovidio and Josie worked very hard to put all 3 children through Catholic School, by working Bingo, after a long hard day at their regular jobs. Also working the Bazaars and Alter and Rosary Society...The Romero Kids had a great life!

Ovidio worked as a truck driver, first for Hires Root Beer, and then Manna Pro, where he worked for 40 years. Finally retiring in?

Ovidio loved hunting and fishing. He had some of the greatest "fish fry's" in his back yard. He would take anyone and everyone who wanted to go fishing, packing up the station wagon, or if there was not enough room, he'd pile everyone in his camper, and off went the "neighborhood", cousins, etc.

Ovidio loved bowling, and once won a diamond ring in a tournament, for highest score.

His kids were so proud, the would parade that ring up and down the neighborhood for all to see.

Ovidio love dancing, and as he grew older, he and his friend Betty would go dancing at the American Legion, well, there were not a whole lot of men his age who had the "moves" like Ovidio did. Betty's friends would join them, and Ovidio would dance with all of them.

Ovidio loved his Karaoke, (as mentioned earlier in this story, he was quite the "Ham") Ovidio did have the voice of and Angel. His favorites were all the old "County and Western" songs such as artists like Eddie Arnold, Marty Robbins, Merl Haggard, etc.

Sadly, he succumbed to the horrible Dementia. Thank you all who would go and visit with him. His Brothers and Sisters for standing Vigil with Ovidio until he passed over to his next journey.

Pops, you were very Loved by many. We will keep you in our hearts until we meet again. You are now free…Love You...L
