OVIDIO SEMBRANO SR. Ovidio V. Sembrano Sr., 76 years of age, was called home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Ovidio was a cowboy at heart, from his cowboy hat down to his cowboy boots and spurs. He spent 17 years working for Kroger Grocery Stores before he went to work for the City of Alice for another 17 years. After retiring from City of Alice, he went to work for Ben Bolt Water District for 11 years before retiring. Ovidio took pride and joy in his many projects and wood working he did in his shop. He loved to take things apart just to put back together again. He enjoyed spending his time watching the Dallas Cowboys, barbequing, gambling in Kickapoo and going to the ranch to tend to his cattle. The best memories were made around Ovidio's table with his family. He spent many days and nights around that table telling stories making jokes and giving the best in the west advice. Ovidio's greatest treasure was his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Edward Sembrano; his parents, Julio and Julia Sembrano; parents-in-law, Luis and Elena Garcia; sister-in-law, Umbelina Cantu; brother-in-law, Robelin Martinez. Ovidio is survived by his loving wife of 56 years of marriage, Herlinda "Lindy" Sembrano of Alice, Texas; his son, Ovidio "Ovie" (Cindy) Sembrano, Jr. of Alice, Texas; his daughter, Melissa Godines of Alice, Texas; his world his granddaughters, Julie Sembrano, Leanna Marie Sembrano (Shane Suire), and Annika Godines (JohnMichael Valdez); brother, Alejo (Janie) Sembrano of Alice, Texas; sister, Ludy (Terry) Rios of Sinton, Texas; siblings-n-law, Frank (Bertha) Garcia, Luis (Mary) Garcia, Joe Henry Garcia, Ruben Cantu; grandson, Domonic Perez; two great grandkids, Jade and Jaxon Sembrano; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas.
