Ozell Mack Obituary
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we remember Ozell Mack, who passed away unexpectedly at Bristol Hospital on February 7, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Leesburg, Georgia, on March 18, 1943, Ozell was the cherished son of John Henry Mack and Mary Emma (Jones) Mack Barnett. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean (Hargrove) Mack, and his son, Cory O. Mack.
Throughout his life, Ozell was a pillar of strength and kindness. He dedicated many years to The Bristol Brass Company, Seymour Specialty Wire, and The City of Bristol,
retiring in 2009. His unwavering commitment extended beyond his work, as he was a lifelong, faithful member of Redeemer's AME Zion Church in Plainville. Ozell served his church family in countless wayson the Trustee Board, Steward Board, as Pastor's Steward, Chairman of Men's Day Programs, and as the groundskeeper and caretaker of the church building. His devotion to his faith and community was matched only by his love for his family.
Ozell found joy in simple pleasures: tending his garden, casting a fishing line, and cherishing moments with his grandson, Evan J. McGinley. His warmth, wisdom, and gentle humor touched all who knew him. He leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Jim McGinley of Bristol, CT; his brother Benjamin Mack of Glasgow KY; his sisters and brother-in-law, Henrietta and John Green of Plainville, CT, and Viola Mack Brown of Bristol, CT; his grandson Evan J. McGinley, and many nieces and nephews. Ozell was predeceased by his brothers James Jones, Robert Mack, Kenneth Mack, Melvin Mack, and his sister Janice Mack.
A funeral service to celebrate Ozell's remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, February 18, at 11 a.m., at Redeemer's AME Zion Church, 110 Whiting St, Plainville, CT. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 11am at the church. Burial will take place at Peacedale Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Serving alongside Ozell at Redeemer´s church was a true blessing. His faith, kindness, and commitment touched so many lives. He will be deeply missed. Lifting his family in prayer and holding on to the beautiful memories he leaves behind.
