Funeral services for Mrs. Ozene "Faye" Bryson, age 93, of Lone Star, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. Mrs. Bryson will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.
Ozene "Faye" Bryson was born on August 12, 1931, in Marion County, Texas to the parentage of the late Manse and Lannie (Todd) Montgomery. She peacefully departed this life on January 6, 2025 in Tyler, Texas.
Faye attended schools in the Rock Island and Jefferson school districts, graduating from Victory High School, as valedictorian in Marion County, Texas in 1949. She went on to further her education at Jarvis Christian College. Faye began her journey in the workforce as an employee in the dining department at Lone Star Steel. On July 9, 1962, she joined Day and Zimmerman, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring on September 1, 1993.
She met and married Brighteen Bryson.
Faye was very strong in her faith. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Grumfield Methodist Church. Later in life, she united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Lone Star, Texas.
Known for her nurturing spirit, wisdom, generosity, and strength, Faye enjoyed spending quality time with her family. She had a passion for listening to music, cooking, and sewing. Faye also enjoyed selling Avon in the community.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Brighteen Bryson; parents: Manse and Lannie (Todd) Montgomery; siblings: Ernestine, Armer, Todd, Naymond Sr., and Raymond Montgomery, and nephews: Derek Walker, David McKinney, and Gary Montgomery.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family: son, Waylon Johnson (Lone Star); daughter, Vickie Bryson (Lone Star); granddaughters, Wayvalon Johnson (Carrollton) and Jasmine Bryson (Lone Star); sisters, Izetta Montgomery and Deser (Alvoid Sr.) Walker (both of Lone Star); sisters-in-love, Alice Montgomery and Polly Montgomery; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends whom she loved dearly.
